Get those Grubs!

Get those Grubs!

Grubs – they don’t really bother you at all and you don’t see them until you start digging around your yard. Well, if you don’t know what they look like check this guy out.

grub

It looks like a little harmless creature, but they are ravenous feeders that love the roots of healthy turf grass. Usually, if you have one of the nicest lawns in the neighborhood you will also have the highest population of grubs. You ask, “What are grubs”. Well, they are the larvae of many types of beetles that we find in the Midwest and they have a big appetite. The time is fast approaching that action can be taken to control the grub population in your yard. The best treatments need to be applied before the grubs begin to eat (generally in August). Feel free to ask us more about the subject if you have questions. You can also refer to the K-State Research and Extension office at Grub Article.
